| Types of Lasers Review |  Alexandrite: The light of long-pulse alexandrite laser penetrates deeply into the skin where the hair follicles are located. The heat build-up in the hair shafts and prevents the growth of new hair.
Diode: The diode laser is a very efficient device that includes small diodes or semiconductors that are arranged together to generate light. The diode laser is the best decision for darker skin types because it has a longer wavelength than other lasers used for hair removal.
Light based sources: Usually, the work of intense pulsed light devices is based on similar principles to lasers. The device proposes broad spectrum of light to treat a variety of hair and skin colors as well as hair depths. It uses the photoepilation process.
There are such commonly used light-based sources:
• Q-Switched Nd:YAG: This laser produces two different wavelengths of light. One is an invisible infrared light. This wavelength is used for deeper penetration to reach hair follicles which situates deeper. A green light, the other wavelength, is used for destroying hair follicles closer to the surface. In both cases, the work of Q-switching device is based on emitting rapid bursts of laser light to the treatment site.
• Ruby: The red-colored beam seeks out the target melanin inside the hair shafts.
