5. Timing:

In 4 to 8 weeks the next crop of hair roots become active and produce pigment which is the target for the laser. It is better to have procedures at 4-8 weeks intervals.

You can have treatments more or less frequently than 4-8 weeks. There is no harm in it, but it will be less efficient, and could increase the total number of procedures needed to reach best result.

Also, while there is no harm in waiting more than 4-8 weeks between treatments (for example, if there has not been much regrowth after your last procedure), there is usually no need to wait longer than 6-12 weeks between procedures.

6. Medications
You should avoid taking few medications while you are having laser treatment. Anabolic steroids should be avoided because they can increase male-pattern hair growth in some cases. You cannot be treated if you are presently or have recently used Accutane or Bactrim. Laser hair removal can help those women who take injections of Climacteron (testosterone & estradiol) as part of therapy for menopause and to increase libido, because they often experience unwanted hair growth.

Treatment can be less efficient if you take medicines which reduce hair growth (for example, spironolactone, Diane-35 birth control pills, Euflex, Androcur and Vaniqa cream). These medicines might slightly reduce the pigment in hair roots, but they seldom interferes with the effectiveness of laser treatment. These "anti-androgenic" medicines cause temporary effects, and will not reduce unwanted hair from areas that depend on androgen regulation. If you wish laser hair removal can certainly be done while you are taking those medicines. You may need the pretreatment with medicines like Acyclovir, Valtrex or Famvir to prevent cold sores in the area to be treated.
