During and After Procedure
laser_hair_removal_experienceDuring the procedure you wear goggles to keep your eyes from harmful laser light. When the laser starts working, you feel a stinging sensation. If you want to reduce unpleasant feelings oftentimes a topical local anesthetic is applied before the procedure. The procedure causes a slight charring of stubble. Don’t worry about a strong smell of burnt hair you may notice during the procedure, it is normal. The duration of procedure depends on the area of the body involved. A small area such as the upper lip needs several minutes. A larger area such as the back may takes several hours.

Laser hair removal does not require medications or bandages. Some redness and swelling may occur for the first few hours. Also, you can notice stinging which may occur for the first 24 to 48 hours. Sometimes a slight crusting of the skin can be experienced. In such a case you should keep the area with crusting skin moist with petroleum jelly (Vaseline).

After treatment:

• Try not to perspire for the first 24 hours, because perspiration from exertion may increase irritation caused by the laser. Avoid physical exercises and exertion.
• Don’t exposure to the sun for several weeks after treatment. After this period, apply sunscreen whenever you're in the sun. Avoid tanning booths — the ultraviolet light is harmful for the skin.
• Don't wax or pluck hairs between treatments. If needed, the only other acceptable hair removal method during the treatment regimen is shaving.
• Don't disturb or manipulate the skin in treated areas.
• Be aware that hair will continue to shed up to three weeks after the treatment. Help the hairs out by using a loofah or washcloth.
• Don’t use a lot of makeup
• While washing the treated area don't rub or scrub it. You may gently wash the area with soap and water.
