GentleLase Laser System
Actually, it is in your interest to know that not all lasers are the same. The type of laser you are going to use will settle on how many overall treatments you will need, how entire the depilation will be, and finally your general cost.

GentleLase Plus safely removes superfluous hair without injuring the fragile pores and structures of the skin.
This type of laser is modern, advanced models (Candela-GentleLase Plus) with a liquid nitrogen cooling device for safety, comfort and to reduce chances of depigmentation.

Different types of lasers have been used for many years for a range of medical cosmetic procedures such as treatment of facial and leg veins, age spots and renewing the skin on the face. The GentleLASE System, an innovative long-pulse high energy alexandrite laser throws out a moderate beam of light that goes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is changed into heat, which demolishes the hair follicle leaving the nearby skin unaffected. Further protection with the help of Dynamic Cooling Device is performed – the skin is sprayed with cryogen which cools the upper layers and provides patients with increased comfort.

Traditional hair removal techniques like shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams offer only temporary relief. Up till now, the only known way to remove hair for a long time has been by electrolysis. It can be monotonous, time-consuming and uncomfortable. The GentleLASE System safely removes unwanted body hair without hurting the fragile pores and structures of the skin. As a rule, facial and bikini areas are finished in less than ten minutes; legs, backs and larger areas can take some longer.

Additionally, the GentleLASE System is also effectual for the treatment of the large, “blue” leg veins.

Treatment Includes:
Getting on safety eyewear to save the practitioner and patient’s eyes from the laser light throughout the procedure.
A small handpiece will be used that touches the skin to send the laser light. A light spray of coolant onto the skin will be applied just before each laser pulse.
A test area will be performed before the entire treatment. Your complete treatment may be performed on the same day or up to two weeks later, depending on the skin response.
Most patients feel little discomfort at the treatment area because of the dynamic cooling device.
The level of discomfort changes with each person, depending on his/her pain threshold. Topical anesthesia may also be needed founded on personal preferences or tolerances. Make sure to talk about this with your practitioner in advance of the laser treatment.
The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the area treated.
The treated area may turn into pink or red within 30 minutes of treatment; this may continue from a few hours to several days and is relieved with the application of ice or cooling gels.

Precautions for Treatment
Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before and after treatment or until your practitioner permits it.
You must keep away from electrolysis, plucking or waxing hair for 6 weeks before treatment.
If you have had a history of perioral herpes, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be recommended.
If you have a dark skin type, a bleaching cream may be started 4-6 weeks before treatment to improve results.
You should talk about your desired results and the improvements you expect to get with your practitioner. Together you can decide if your expectations will be met and if this laser treatment is the best option for you.
